The Liya Kebede Foundation is a non-profit organization that catalyzes resources to promote maternal health in Africa.
There is something desperately wrong about dying while trying to give life. The Liya Kebede Foundation is committed to ensuring that every woman, no matter where she lives, has access to life-saving care. We work to educate policy makers and support programs that save lives in partnership with governments, non-governmental organizations, corporations and affected communities. Saving mothers' lives requires the strategic coordination and deployment of resources, skilled doctors and midwives, ambulances, roads, clean sheets and basic medical tools, just to name a few. We are dedicated to saving the next generation of mothers.
Liya Kebede was appointed as a World Health Organization Goodwill Ambassador for maternal, newborn and child health in 2005 and founded the Liya Kebede Foundation shortly after to expand her advocacy and philanthropic work. In the past 7 years LKF has focused on international advocacy efforts and targeted projects to improve access to maternal health services in Ethiopia.

Featured partner: The Ethiopian North American Health Professional Association (ENAHPA)
ENAHPA was founded in Detroit, Michigan in 1999 by a group of medical professionals from the Ethiopian diaspora community with the goal to build a worldwide network of Ethiopian professionals dedicated to addressing healthcare needs in their home country. The organization began with medical missions throughout Ethiopia and has since expanded its range of health services in partnership with the Ethiopian Federal Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization. ENAHPA prioritizes improving clinic infrastructure and transferring knowledge, skills and state-of-the-art technology to assist Ethiopian doctors and health workers in delivering high-quality medical care. With the support of several donors including LKF, ENAHPA constructed and equipped a Maternal Child Health Center in a previously underserved area in Hawassa, Ethiopia and directs the training of staff there.
